Ali Kuscu was born in Semerkant. He was an important mathematician and astronomer. He directed the observatory, established by Ulug Bey in Semerkant. In the following he moved to Istanbul and became a medrese scholar. In a short period he won admiration of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. He wrote many books as, Risaltı Halli Esgali Kamer, Risalet-ül- Fethiye, Risalet-ül-Muhammediye, Serhi Tecrit. He died in 1474.
